Pre-Conference Workshop

Sunday, February 23rd,2020 ~ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

From Draft To Press: Book or Article?

The purpose of this workshop is to assist scholars with their publishing endeavors. The workshop has both knowledge and praxis components. For the knowledge section, we will provide participants with practical knowledge about the following: (1) comparative approaches to book, chapter, or journal article publishing; (2) the selection of suitable venues for book or article publishing; (3) different processes for book and article publishing; and (4) ways to manage author-visibility and expand scholarly influence. For the praxis section, we will divide participants into two groups: book-writers and article-writers. Using worksheets, we will guide the book-writers to prepare a book prospectus and/or a table of contents for their book; article-writers will outline their article and/or prepare a plan to search a suitable journal for their article. For a more productive participation, we suggest that participants bring a draft of their publishing ideas about their current or future publishing projects.
